Welcome to FOSS4G Observatory Courses!
The FOSS4G Observatory is dedicated to maintaining and further improving the open, interactive and user intuitive platform, mapping the dynamic environment of the open source digital infrastructure for geospatial data storage, processing and visualisation systems - just like an observatory. The key to the sustainability and further improvement of any initiative, is education within the spirit of the values and principles that are at the very foundation of the domain, that then percolate into the methodologies and best practices. The open source for geospatial is no different. Thus, within FOSS4G Observatory the educational and outreach activities are essential!
We’ve prepared materials dedicated to supporting the adoption and understanding of open source in the geospatial fields, which are focused on the three main types of potential beneficiaries: developers, users and decision-makers. Using the open source Docusaurus framework for building the educational course website, our course is structured in five (5) topics:
- two (2) topics relevant to all potential beneficiaries;
- three (3) topics, each adapted to a target category.
